PHOENIX — Authorities are investigating a shooting involving officers with the Phoenix Police Department and an alleged armed robbery suspect.

According to Phoenix PD, shots were fired just before noon Thursday after a "lengthy standoff" with the suspect.

Police say the man, identified as 22-year-old Lorenzo Gonzales, was inside a home near Central Avenue and Buckeye Road when officers tried to arrest him, but he refused to come out.

After negotiating with police for several hours, police say he came to the door and pointed a gun toward officers. That's when an officer fired his weapon.

The man was not injured and surrendered peacefully shortly afterward.

He was arrested on charges related to several armed robberies over the past week, according to a statement from police.

No officers were injured in the incident.
