Two hurt after apartment fire near 43rd Avenue and Bell Road

PHOENIX — A man was forced to jump from a burning apartment in Phoenix early Wednesday morning, leaving him with extremely serious injuries.

Phoenix Fire Department was called to the scene near 43rd Avenue and Bell Road around 5 a.m.

According to preliminary information from the scene, apartments on the first and second stories of the complex were engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

A man reportedly jumped from the second-story apartment during the blaze and is said to be in extremely critical condition.

A woman was also hurt but is said to be in stable condition.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for burn injury treatment, fire officials said.

Fire officials are working to determine what caused the fire.
