PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a shooting at a home near the I-17 and Northern Avenue.

Police say they were called to the area of 28th Drive and El Caminito for reports of a shooting. When they got on scene, police located an adult male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

While treating that victim, police began to hear more gunshots northwest of that scene.

Police say the suspect, 29-year-old Jose Bracamonte had fled the first shooting scene and tried to carjack a man that was outside of a home. The victim at that home was able to get inside his home and lock the door. Bracamonte fired shots at that home but nobody was injured.

Bracamonte then allegedly banged on a woman's car and demanded that she get out, but the woman was able to drive away.

After searching the area, police were able to locate Bracamonte inside another home nearby.

Police entered the home and were eventually able to take the suspect into custody.

It's unclear what led to the first shooting, or if Bracamonte knew the victim. As of Friday, the victim remains hospitalized from his injuries.

No additional details were available as police continue to investigate.
