Police have identified a 15-year-old boy who was killed in a head-on collision in north Phoenix.

Sgt. Vince Lewis said Hector Flores died in the Tuesday crash on Cave Creek Road, just north of Cactus Road.

According to Phoenix police, a gray Infinity G35 driven by a 17-year-old male was going southbound on Cave Creek Road at an excessive speed before it lost control and crossed the center.

The Infinity then struck a gray Expedition SUV that was heading northbound, police said.

The 17-year-old driver of the Infinity was transported to a hospital in extremely critical condition, according to police. Flores was in the passenger seat at the time of the crash.
