Phoenix fire rescuing hiker at North Mountain

Officials are on scene of a mountain rescue in north Phoenix.

According to Phoenix fire, a stranded hiker in his 50's started hiking at sunrise on Monday. While hiking, the man apparently fell and became unconscious for an unknown period of time.

A rescue team is on the trail and have determined it is most effective to get the hiker off the mountain by helicopter.

The man fell in a cluster of mountains that make up the North Mountain hiking trail near Cave Creek Road and Peoria Avenue.
