Phoenix police have identified a man shot and killed by officers late Monday after a six-hour standoff.

On Wednesday, police identified the man as 39-year-old Levi Gene Wilson.

Police said on Monday afternoon Wilson and his sister got into an argument at his home near 18th and Peoria avenues when Wilson fired a gun inside the home.

The sister ran out of the house and called police.

Police negotiators tried for nearly six hours to get Wilson to come out of the house. Wilson told police that he was armed and would shoot anyone who tried to get him to come out, said police.

Around midnight, Wilson came out with a handgun held to his head and then pointed the gun at officers. Those officers feared for their safety and shot Wilson who later died.

Police said the investigating is on-going.
