A woman is recovering in a Valley trauma center after being rescued from a Phoenix mountain trail.
Phoenix firefighters and other rescue crews were called to Piestewa Peak on Sunday afternoon after a 31-year-old woman lost her balance and fell on a trail.
Authorities say the woman suffered a broken leg and by the time fire crews arrived to the area she was found in "extreme pain and crying out."
The woman was about three-fourths the way up the mountain when she fell. Due to the rough terrain, a helicopter was used to bring her to the ground and take her to the hospital.
The woman's name wasn't released but she is expected to be OK.
