The Phoenix Fire Department responded to a first-alarm structure fire Friday night.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. near 7th Street and Thunderbird Road.

Firefighters say the large building is on top of a mountain in the neighborhood. The large driveway and heavy winds made the fire exceptionally difficult to battle. Much of the building was destroyed in the fire, but no injuries have been reported.

The structure was first reported to be a home, but witnesses on scene described it as a retreat center.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
