Phoenix police are investigating after two men were shot multiple times after a “drug deal gone bad.”

The men were found around 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of I-17 and Pinnacle Peak.

Police say around midnight, two men picked up another man and drove to a parking lot of a park to conduct a drug deal. After the drugs were handed over, the suspect opened fire and shot the other two men.

The two men then drove away and called 911 saying they had been shot multiple times. Officials instructed the two to pull over so police could get help.

The men were both transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver was in critical condition and the passenger in serious but stable condition.

Officials say the two men admitted they were involved in a drug transaction when the shooting occurred. Their vehicle had up to a dozen bullet holes in it.

Police went to various locations where the two men said the drug deal happened; however, officers were unable to find a scene.

No suspect information was given.
