A north Phoenix man is hoping to identify a brazen thief who stole a bike right from his patio.

Josh Hillis says on Wednesday morning his son's friend came over on his bike. He explained that the boy left the bike on his front patio.

Around 8 a.m., a silver — possibly light blue — Honda fit drove by the house. Minutes later, the same car came back and the passenger hopped out and stole the bike.

Hillis' son, DJ, and his friend were in the living room playing video games when DJ spotted the car drive off.

"He [DJ's friend] runs out and says, 'They're stealing my bike!' and I just see the guy riding off," DJ explained.

DJ's mom. Cherie, says she's shocked the thief stole the bike so nonchalantly during the daytime.

"It's kind of scary to know that people casually walk up and grab stuff off your front porch in the middle of the day. I mean, 8 in the morning," Cherie explained.

Hillis says the incident was caught on five surveillance cameras but unfortunately he did not get the license plate number.

He explained the theft is one of three crimes he has captured on video in recent weeks. He initially installed the security cameras six months ago after a rash of close calls in the neighborhood with thieves.

The car's front bumper is not the same color as the rest of the car. Anyone with information about the suspect or the owner of the car is urged to reach out to police.
