Police identify motorcycle rider killed in north Phoenix crash

Police have identified a motorcycle rider killed in a north Phoenix crash on Saturday afternoon as 40-year-old Brett Johnson. 

According to Phoenix police, officers responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle around 5 p.m. near 7th Street and Mountain View Road. 

Police say a pickup truck occupied by a driver and a passenger were traveling northbound on 7th Street and were struck on the driver's side by Johnson, as they were beginning a U-turn. 

Johnson was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the pickup driver was evaluated and impairment was not suspected.

Any applicable charges are under review, police said.

Johnson was wearing a helmet, police said.
