PHOENIX — A man has died after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street on a motorized scooter in north Phoenix.
Police say the incident happened near 3rd Street and Bell Road Friday around 6 p.m.
The man, who firefighters said was in his 70's, was reportedly taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition but died from his injuries.
Police say the man on the scooter was crossing Bell Road mid-block when he was hit. The female driver of the truck stayed on scene and is cooperating with police. Impairment does not appear to be a factor, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The identity of the man killed has not been released. It's unclear if the driver will face any charges.
Bell Road is expected to be closed in the area for several hours.
