A 59-year-old man was killed in an overnight crash after running across Interstate 17 at Dixileta Drive and being struck by a vehicle.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a Glendale man's motorcycle became disabled on the right shoulder of southbound I-17 around 10:26 p.m. on Friday night. DPS identified the man as Marvin Eugene Saylor.

Saylor walked across the freeway to the median wall where he called his family. His daughter arrived to the scene moments later and pulled her vehicle near her father's motorcycle on the right shoulder of I-17. That's when DPS says Saylor, for unknown reasons, ran across lanes of traffic and stopped in the number three lane.

A Nissan Altima struck and killed the man. Police say the driver was not impaired and did stay at the scene.

I-17 was closed overnight but reopened shortly before 5 a.m.
