A man is accused of killing four dogs and leaving their bodies in a Phoenix trash bin.

Police were called to the area of Deer Valley Road and 19th Avenue on May 6 after a passerby found four dead dogs in a dumpster, a Phoenix police spokesperson said.

During the investigation officers discovered that one of the dogs was microchipped and identified 50-year-old Troy Sauvageau as the owner, officials said.

Sauvageau allegedly told police that three of the dogs attacked and killed the fourth dog. The suspect admitted to shooting the remaining three dogs and discarding all of their bodies in the trash can.

He is facing multiple charges including animal cruelty, unlawful discharge of a firearm, illegal dumping and misconduct involving a weapon.
