PHOENIX — Firefighters say two people have been critically injured after a crash Wednesday night.

A Phoenix Fire Department spokesman says the riders were hospitalized in extremely critical condition after the crash near 27th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

The Phoenix Police Department says the motorcycle was hit by another vehicle which took off from the scene. A vehicle seen next to the crashed motorcycle belonged to a witness who stopped after the crash, police said.

Both riders were not wearing helmets, firefighters said.
