Fire investigators are trying to determine how a destructive fire started in a Phoenix home Saturday morning.

Phoenix Fire Department says a man awoke to find that a fire had started near his family's Christmas tree in the front of their house.

Fire officials say the man woke up to head to a church event and that the smoke alarms went off shortly after that.

He woke up his wife and three children who were all able to escape out the back of the home with no injuries.

When fire crews arrived at the home near 39th Avenue and Bell Road, they found the fire was spreading quickly. After part of the roof collapsed, firefighters had to exit the structure for their own safety.

Officials say no lights or candles were on the tree and that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Investigators are still working to find the cause of the blaze and care crews are currently helping the family.
