A 3-year-old boy was taken to the hospital where he died after being found in a backyard pool on Thursday.
The boy was being watched by his grandmother at a home near 7th Street and Thunderbird Road, when she and the boy's uncle found the toddler in the pool around noon.
Emergency crews continued to try to resuscitate the boy as he was rushed to Phoenix Children's Hospital in critical condition. Police say the boy later died at the hospital.
It's unclear how long he was in the water before he was located.
ABC15 crews at the home say there is a fence in place around the pool.
