Eight people were displaced after an overnight apartment fire in north Phoenix.

The fire happened in the area of 35th Avenue and Bell Road shortly after 12 a.m. on Tuesday.

A Phoenix fire official says 20 firefighters responded to the fire and worked to keep it from spreading to other second-story apartment units.

A pregnant woman needed to be transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. There were no injuries to firefighters.

Four units were impacted and the eight people displaced are being assisted by American Red Cross volunteers.

The fire is under investigation.
