Police documents are giving more insight into the brutal double murder that took place on Saturday afternoon.

Brandon Southerland, 37, was arrested at a mobile home near 35th Avenue and Beardsley Lane.

Officers originally responded to the home after getting a call about an unknown trouble. Witnesses reportedly told police they saw an injured woman being chased and pulled to the ground by Southerland. He was also seen going in and out of the residence.

Police made contact with Southerland, who was still on the property and covered in blood.

Officers found a man and woman with large wounds to the neck. The victims matched the description of Southerland's mother and her fiance. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Coutrt paperwork indicated a bloody knife was found near one of the victims.

Neighbors told police that Southerland was a former Marine, was diagnosed with PTSD, had other mental issues and had a history of methamphetamine use.

Southerland's mother was apparently trying to sell the home and had asked him to move out prior to the homicide.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million cash bond.
