An animal rescue group is working to raise money for a dog that was hit by a car in Phoenix.

According to the Animals Benefit Club of Arizona, a Yorkie was brought to them and immediately rushed to the veterinarian earlier this month.

He had a shattered pelvis and needed extensive surgery, the group said. They have been working to raise $4,500 to cover the dog's medical costs.

Dr. William Linney of Phoenix Veterinary Referral and Emergency performed surgery on the dog and has him in his care.
