Phoenix police say that a man who was struck by a car late Saturday night in north Phoenix has died.
Phoenix police Sergeant Vincent Lewis said the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m when two pedestrians were walking diagonally across the intersection of 9th Street and Bell Road.
Sergeant Lewis said the pair was walking in the direction against the walk signal when one of them was struck by an approaching vehicle.
The man was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, police say.
According to authorities, the driver stayed on scene and showed no signs of impairment.
