Loved ones gathered in Phoenix Saturday night to honor Crystal Hillman, whose body was kept as a "shrine to God", according to police.

Friends and family met outside of the Acacia Gardens Apartments near 15th Avenue and Missouri, where Hillman’s body was discovered the day after Christmas.

Dozens shared tears, hugs, and memories of the 20-year-old woman who was shot to death. Many also left candles and notes.

"She was always smiling. My sister was very smart and beautiful. And, you know what, she didn’t deserve none of this," Rachel Tate said.

Police arrested 39-year-old Anitra Braxton, who later told police that she shot Hillman for not believing in her God. She's being held on a $750,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 4.
