Two hospitalized after wrong-way crash in Phoenix, driver arrested

PHOENIX - Two people were taken to the hospital after a wrong-way crash in Phoenix overnight. 

According to the Phoenix Police Department, just before 1 a.m. officers responded to a two-vehicle collision near 7th Avenue and Jefferson Street. 

Witnesses told officers that an SUV was traveling the wrong way on Jefferson Street when it collided with a car traveling northbound on 7th Avenue. 

The two people inside the car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. 

The driver of the SUV, identified as 25-year-old Gabriela Ortiz Becerra, reportedly showed signs of impairment. She was booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault and endangerment.
