Fire investigators are looking into the causes of multiple house fires in a small area of Phoenix overnight.

One of the fires was at an abandoned home near 13th and Van Buren streets. The flames reportedly spread to a neighboring home, but crews were able to save the neighboring home from serious damage.

Another blaze broke out in a shed in the back of a home near 16th Street and Indian School Road.

Contents in a separate vacant home near 16th Street and Indian School Road also caught fire, but firefighters were able to put out the flames.

Phoenix Fire says they are looking into whether the two fires near 16th Street and Indian School Road are connected.

Maria Gonzalez, whose family owned one of the homes, is convinced someone is responsible.

Gonzalez said her grandfather built the home in the 1920s and it was a big part of the family ever since. It had been sitting vacant after her parents passed away, but no one ever bothered the house.

The cause of the fires has yet to be determined.
