PHOENIX — Costco isn't just the go-to place for Valley residents and businesses to buy in bulk — the wholesale retailer also is Arizona's best employer, according to a recently published ranking.
Forbes has released its inaugural lists of "America's Best Employers by State." At the top of Arizona's list is Costco Wholesale Corp. (Nasdaq: COST), the Issaquah, Washington-based retailer that boasts 245,000 employees companywide.
In total, 72 companies were ranked in Arizona.
The list is as diverse as Arizona's economy, featuring national retailers such as Costco and Target Corp. as well as financial institutions, defense contractors, utilities, local technology firms and health care companies — and the city of Phoenix.
