Road restrictions will be in place in Phoenix on Thursday as teachers walk out of classrooms as part of the Red For Ed movement.

The march will begin in downtown Phoenix and end at the Arizona Capitol.

According to the Phoenix Street Transportation Department, closures and restrictions will take place between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Washington and Lincoln streets and from 1st Street to 17th Avenue.

City officials say all streets at the start of the route are expected to be open by 1 p.m.

"All other streets and driveways will be closed along the route as the march approaches and will reopen as it proceeds," officials said in a news release.

Streets at the end of the march at the capitol are expected to be open by 5 p.m.

If you're traveling in the area during the march, you're asked to travel with caution and allow for extra time.
