PHOENIX — St. Mary's Food Bank is hoping to receive more than 1,000 turkeys to distribute to families in need for the Thanksgiving holiday.

St. Mary's said they are still 1,100 turkeys short of their 12,000-turkey goal. However, they expect to need even more than that amid a large need for donations this year.

Families have already started receiving food donations and distribution lines were more than two miles long Monday morning, according to St. Mary's. They expect to serve 4,000 families during their four-hour window for pick-up on Monday alone.

Anyone who is able to help those in need can donate turkeys, other food or money to the organization's warehouse at 2831 N. 31st Ave.
