A dog rescued after spending days on the roof of a house will soon be able to head to a new furever home.
Last week, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and the Arizona Humane Society worked to get the dog, a Chihuahua mix, down in a neighborhood near 7th Avenue and Southern.
A neighbor who first noticed the dog on the roof, Gregory Dorr, has visited the dog several times during his recovery and decided to adopt him. MCACC says the dog, named Roofus based on how he was found, can go home with Dorr on Tuesday after spending the night for his neuter surgery.
An animal care spokeswoman said Gregory was cautioned about keeping an eye out for how the dog was able to scramble up onto the roof in the first place and said Roofus would likely be keeping his name.
