Phoenix police say an intoxicated man in a wheelchair attempted to cross the street mid-block last Wednesday night when he was hit by a pickup truck.
The man attempted to cross Van Buren near 28th Street around 9:45 p.m. when a Dodge pick up truck traveling eastbound on Van Buren collided with him. The man was taken to the hospital and declared dead shortly after arriving.
The driver remained on scene and showed no signs of impairment. Speed is also not believed to be a factor in the crash.
