PHOENIX — The Phoenix Zoo says it is once again closing all foot traffic for visitors, citing health concerns amid the coronavirus.

"While the safety measures and precautions we have had in place are outstanding, we have been listening to the health experts and concerns of the community and want to do our best to help mitigate the rise of this terrible disease affecting so many,” the zoo said in a statement.

While foot traffic won’t be allowed, the “Cruise the Zoo” drive-thru option will continue. The next Cruise the Zoo opportunity will be August 6-10.

The zoo says anyone that pays for a membership will be placed on hold, so no time will be lost while the zoo is closed to foot traffic. In addition, anyone who has purchased tickets will be able to use them at a later date.

The zoo has not said how long it intends to stay closed.
