A Phoenix police officer has resigned, accused of trying to pick up on a teenage girl while on-duty.
Sources tell ABC15 the officer is a new recruit and has been with the department for less than a year.
Phoenix police confirm a family member of the 16-year-old filed a complaint saying the officer tried to hit on the teen and pick her up.
Multiple sources tell ABC15 surveillance video shows the officer hitting on the girl before allegedly giving her his personal number.
Sources say the victim is the daughter of a homicide victim that the department is currently investigating.
It is against department policy for officers to turn any on-duty contact into something personal.
Phoenix police say they cannot comment on the case because it’s still an ongoing investigation.
