PHOENIX — Phoenix police are asking for the public's help to find a man who allegedly assaulted marijuana dispensary staff with a machete-like knife in November of 2020.

Police said the incident happened November 10, 2020, just before noon when the man was waiting to enter a medical marijuana dispensary located near 35th and Peoria avenues with his friend.

The dispensary's security denied the friend entry and the man allegedly assaulted the security guard. He then went to the friend's car to grab a sheathed machete-like knife and pushed his way back into the store to confront the security guard, according to authorities.

Police said another employee tried to take the machete away from the man but was cut by the machete during the attempt.

Authorities provided surveillance video of the confrontation where victims and witnesses were blurred out.

The man is described as a 25-year-old Black man who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, has black hair and green eyes. He was seen wearing a dark-colored beanie and a black shirt with white stripes.
