PHOENIX — Police say two men were shot while they were helping their mother after she was involved in an argument Sunday night.

Phoenix police say they were called to the scene of a shooting after 11 p.m. in the area of 7th and Peoria avenues.

Two men, ages 28 and 30, were found with gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Initial information suggests the suspect was in an argument with his girlfriend and then left the home.

While he was gone, the woman called her adult sons to help her move out of the home, and when the suspect returned, he shot both adult sons.

Police say the suspect, 56-year-old Kenneth Preston, fled the scene, but was later arrested by police.

Preston has been booked into jail on multiple charges, including aggravated assault.
