Police believe they have located the body of a man who went missing after going off-roading earlier this week.

Phoenix police spokesman James Holmes said crews around 11:30 a.m. Thursday located an ATV matching the description of Ramon Arvizo's. The vehicle was found on its side in a wash area just southeast of Phoenix International Raceway. Moments later the air unit discovered the body of a male about a quarter mile from the ATV.

Holmes confirmed the victim "matched all characteristics and descriptions of Mr. Arvizo." It appears the 50-year-old may have been in a collision of some type, but the cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Several search crews and rescue units returned to the area near the Estrella Mountain Regional Park early Thursday to assist in the operation, but the search was suspended due to heat and the dangerous terrain.

Arvizo was last seen Sunday leaving his home near 51st Avenue and Elliot Road on his ATV. Family members told police that Arvizo normally rides his ATV in the area of 91st and Southern avenues.
