A jury has found a Phoenix man guilty of negligent homicide and child abuse in the 2015 death of his young son who was left unattended in a hot car.

Maricopa County Superior Court officials say jurors also acquitted James Koryor of manslaughter on Tuesday.

The aggravation phase of Koryor's trial now has begun.

Phoenix police say 2-year-old Alpha Koryor died in April 2015 after he was left for more than 2 1/2 hours inside the family car on a 90-degree day.

The toddler was unresponsive when he was found and later died at a Phoenix hospital of what was diagnosed as heatstroke.

Police say the 43-year-old Koryor was impaired by alcohol at the time.
