A Mexican restaurant is considered to be a total loss after a fire broke out Tuesday morning.
Firefighters responded to Mariscos Acapulco restaurant near 32nd Street and Thomas Road around midnight and found it to be engulfed with smoke and flames.
As crews were inside attempting to fight the fire, another crew arrived and saw flames coming from the roof. The crew on the inside was told to leave and the fight continued from outside the restaurant.
Phoenix Fire said it was able to contain the fire, but the building was heavily damaged. There were concrete tables inside the restaurant, which made it more difficult to fight the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no one was hurt or inside the restaurant when it started.
