A litter of kittens is expected to be OK after they were found stuck between two wooden fences, thanks to the Phoenix Fire Department.

A homeowner reached out to the fire department after discovering a mother and her four babies in a yard, a Phoenix Fire spokesperson said.

It's believed the kittens were stuck between the fences for three days.

With the help of some tools, firefighters were able to safely cut through the fence and free the young animals.

The mother was injured while trying to free herself from the area, officials said. She later died of her injuries.
