PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a deadly pedestrian-involved crash early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Indian School Road near 2nd Avenue.

Police say 38-year-old Travis Lee James was crossing the street when he was hit by a 65-year-old man driving a van.

Officials say James was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unknown if he was impaired at the time of the crash, but police say he was not in a crosswalk at the time.

The driver said he did not see James in the roadway and was unable to avoid the collision. The driver did not suffer any injuries.
