PHOENIX — Police say a woman is dead after a drive-by shooting in Phoenix overnight.
Officers were called to the area of 7th Avenue and Ellis Street, near Baseline Road, late Wednesday night.
Officials say when they arrived on scene, they found an adult woman lying in the road in front of a residence.
The woman had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police believe an "unidentified white sedan" drove by and a person in the car fired shots at the woman and the residence.
At this time, the suspect's identity is unknown. Police say investigators have limited information on the drive-by shooting.
Some road closures were in place for the investigation, but have since been lifted.
