PHOENIX — An 18-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a car on Thursday afternoon.
The crash occurred near 7th Street and Butler Drive before 4 p.m.
Police say Mercedes Durham was crossing Butler Drive along the east crosswalk on 7th Street when a Ford F-150 hit her.
The truck had reportedly stopped at the red signal, looked to the left before turning, and proceeded into the right-hand turn where Durham was walking.
She was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 22-year-old man, stayed at the scene. Neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
