Police are investigating after a suspected impaired driver crashed through the scene of a deadly pedestrian-involved crash in Central Phoenix overnight.
The deadly pedestrian crash happened just before 10 p.m. on Thursday in the area of 11th Avenue and Indian School Road.
Phoenix police said an intoxicated woman around 60 years old tripped and fell into the roadway and was hit and killed by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped and was cooperating with the investigation.
The victim has not yet been identified.
While officers were out overnight investigating the deadly crash, a male driver drove through the crash scene and then took off.
The driver crashed his vehicle in the area of 3rd Street and Indian School Road and was taken into custody. He will be processed for possible impairment.
