PHOENIX — A student has been arrested at South Mountain High School for possession of a hand gun, according to police.

The incident happened Monday around 10 a.m. at the school near 7th Street and Roeser Road.

The Phoenix Union High School District says the student allegedly posted a selfie photo on Snapchat while holding a gun in a bathroom. Another student saw it and told an official with the school.

Police booked the 16-year-old into the juvenile court center without incident.

The suspect's name has not been released due to their age.

This is an active case and police will continue to investigate.
