PHOENIX — An arrest has been made after a hit and run driver killed a skateboarder on Saturday, according to Phoenix police.

According to police, around 7:40 p.m. officers responded to the area of 19th and Dunlap avenues for a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

Police say the man, identified Sunday morning as 24-year-old Mathew Carringer, was riding a skateboard against traffic when he was struck.

The vehicle involved in the incident, a dark sedan, fled from the scene.

Police say they received information Sunday night that led them to 21 year old, Breyon E. Green.

Green was interviewed and arrested by police for leaving the scene of a traffic collision resulting in injury or death.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 9-1-1 or 480-WITNESS.
