PHOENIX — An arrest has been announced in connection to a homicide investigation outside a commercial building in Phoenix early Tuesday.

Officers were called to the area of Central and Dunlap avenues just before 4 a.m. after a security guard found a body in the parking lot.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and police identified him as 46-year-old Steve Griffin.

On Thursday, the Phoenix Police Department said it obtained enough probable cause evidence to arrest Anthony Romero.

According to court documents, Romero was located at a hospital after a security guard found a knife hidden under a bed.

The documents state that DNA found on the knife belonged to Steve Griffin.

Romero was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and is facing charges of 2nd degree murder. He is being held on a one-million-dollar bond.

A cause of death hasn't been provided. It's also unclear if the two were known to each other or what may have led up to the killing.
