PHOENIX — A 43-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a car near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix, according to police.
Phoenix police say Norah Jane Gonzales was crossing Indian School Road mid-block (from south to north) around 10 p.m. when she was struck by a Dodge Charger traveling eastbound on Indian School Road.
Gonzales was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
Police say the 35-year-old driver of the Dodge Charger remained on scene following the deadly crash. She was evaluated, and police determined speed and impairment did not contribute to the cause of the crash.
Phoenix police did mentioned in a statement to the press that there was a crosswalk at the intersection of 75th Avenue, just west of where the crash occurred.
