A passerby is credited with intervening to stop an assault near a Phoenix library Friday night.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Vince Lewis said officers detained the suspect near the Burton Barr Library at Central and Culver Street around 6 p.m. for assaulting the female victim.
A Department of Public Safety officer also responded to assist.
Lewis said there were no reports of injuries.
