PHOENIX — A pedestrian-involved crash shut down the area of Interstate 17 and Dunlap Avenue early Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 5:45 a.m. after witnesses say they saw a woman in the roadway who appeared to have been hit by a car. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the crash occurred on the surface streets over I-17 and access to the freeway was blocked by investigators.
Officials initially said the car that struck the woman fled the scene, however, they now say the driver stopped away from the initial scene.
No further information has been released.
