PHOENIX — A woman crossing the roadway mid-block near 35th Avenue and Thomas was struck and killed Friday night, according to Phoenix Police.
Police say 19-year-old Daijanae Jones was crossing the road mid-block near 2300 N. 35th Avenue when she was hit by an 18-year-old driving a GMC Sierra pickup truck.
Jones was transported to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, but police say he showed signs of impairment.
Additionally, speed may have been a factor in the deadly collision.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and charges may be filed against the driver upon completion of the investigation.
