Overnight attic fire destroys home in East Phoenix, displaces family

A dad and his sons are displaced after an overnight attic fire destroyed their home in east Phoenix.

The house fire happened around 1 a.m. on Thursday in the area of 56th Street and Thomas Road.

Phoenix firefighters worked to control the attic fire which ripped through the structure, destroying the roof.

The fire is thought to have started in the back portion of the house, possibly the back patio. The fire is under investigation.

The father was home alone at the time of the fire. There were no injuries to the homeowner or firefighters.
