PHOENIX — An off-duty Phoenix firefighter is being credited with saving a dog from a first alarm house fire in Phoenix Sunday morning.

Officials say the firefighter suffered minor burns in the fire near 10th Street and Northern Avenue.

The blaze was quickly extinguished, but flames still managed to cause minor damage to the home next door.

"My first thoughts were please not my house. I'm just glad it's structural damage - everything can be replaced. I'm just glad it's not lives," said neighbor Brian Baker.

It is unknown how many people were displaced by the fire; authorities are still working to contact the homeowners.

The firefighter and dog are expected to be okay, according to Phoenix Fire officials.
